About Course

Our nation is facing different kinds of natural disasters every year, though the occurrence is different in different places. The economic and social disruption of the societies caused due to natural disasters requires detailed, systematic studies to reduce the ill effects of the disasters. Knowing the disasters will have a huge impact on the life and living means generation, agriculture. The Audit Course in Disaster Management (AUD2E02) is prepared as per the requirement for the CBCSS-UG – REGULATION-2019 under the University of Calicut. The course intends to familiarise students with different terms, their meaning, causes, effects, and significance of preparedness for natural disasters. The course specifies various ways of disaster preparedness with the help of case studies. The course emphasizes various types of natural disasters, associated risk and vulnerability, disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, and response plans. It also deals with the rehabilitation, recovery, and reconstruction of disaster-hit areas with details on the damage assessment, post-disaster remedial measures, livelihood options, disaster-resistant constructions, etc. The overview of disaster vulnerability in India is discussed with details of agencies involved in the disaster management, warning, and prediction

Plus two in any subject

Outcomes

 

At end of the course, the students will have a critical understanding of the difference between disasters and hazards, different types of natural and manmade disasters, risk and vulnerability analyses of certain areas to natural disasters, etc.

 The course will also discuss disaster risk reduction and preparedness as vital concepts of disaster management of the modern community

The course is suitable for developing an initial understanding about various aspects of disaster management.
