As a nation, we are moving forward to achieve Global Goals or Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030. Gender Equality is the fifth goal, which is build on the principle of “leaving no one behind”. The civic responsibility of each and every citizen is to take part in the development process of our country. Gender inequality and gender discrimination becomes a great hindrance in the nation building process. In this context of growing gender issues in our country, we need to engage ourselves to examine the world through the gender equality frame. The course introduces the basic concepts related to gender, gender disparity, contemporary issues related to gender, initiatives of the state to bring about gender equality. Increased awareness on gender will empower each one as gender sensitive individuals. The Foundation course on, “An Introduction to Gender and Gender Equality’’, will help the individual to safeguard themselves from gender atrocities, at the same time will enable to protect and consider every individual irrespective of their gender.
